What is consignment?

 

Consignment is the act of consigning, which is placing any material in the hand of another, but retaining ownership until the goods are sold. This may be done for shipping, transfer of goods to auction, or for sale in a store.

 

What does Whimsy consign?

 

We promote Iowa artists and home-based business. We are NOT a used-clothing or goods consignment store. (With the acception of the Donate room). We offer a unique retail space for artists or small business owners to share their products with a wider audience.

 

What is the split fee at Whimsy?

 

The split fee on items sold is 30/70. Whimsy will deduct 30% off the price of each and every item sold. The other 70% is all yours. For exampe: If you have a painting that's sold at $100, Whimsy would deduct $30 from the price and the $70 is all yours.

 

How much space is dedicated to consignment at Whimsy?

 

Whimsy has dedicated five rooms to consignment. Each of the five rooms are approximately 12x13'. Whimsy also will place art and gifts around the front and back of the store as needed.

 

How long is the consignment contract?

 

The contract is valid for 4 month and will continue until written notice from you or Whimsy not to renew the contract. After 4 months the contract is month to month. In the event you or Whimsy decide not to renew your contract, a time will be set up for you to remove your items. Whimsy will make every attempt to arrange for you to pick up your items. However, if items have not been removed after your written notification of termination of the contract, Whimsy will remove and store your items for one additional month. If items have not been picked up after the month in storage, Whimsy will put the items in the donate room for sale.

 

When can I restock items?

 

Items can be restocked weekly during business hours Tuesday or Thursday 10am-7pm or by appointment. Please call ahead to make sure we are available to log items in.

 

How do I get paid?

 

Whimsy will email you a full report of items sold no later than the last day of every month. Whimsy will mail you a check on the 15th of each month for the previous months items sold.

 

What happens if something from my space is stolen?

 

Whimsy will make every effort to stop theft from occurring. In the event an item is missing and a theft has occurred, Whimsy will cover 70% of the cost of the item. Whimsy may ask that small items be packaged in a different way to reduce items from being shoplifted.

 

Can I promote my products at Whimsy on my own website?

 

Yes you can! We encourage you to market your products on Facebook and Pintrest. Add Whimsy link so people know where to go to get your treasures! We will add a brief bio, picture and link to our store here at Whimsy as well.

 

Can I view the contract?
